Diesel prices keep falling, with the United States Department of Energy Administration reporting this week that the average price per gallon of diesel dropped 4.1 cents to $2.071 per gallon this week.

Diesel gasoline’s average price per gallon fell 6.5 cents this week to $2.112 per gallon. This marks the tenth straight week of declines for a cumulative 38 cents with the current average price at its lowest level since the week of March 23, 2009, when it was at $2.09. The previous lowest comparison week prior to this week’s decline was the week of May 4, 2009, when it was as $2.185.

Diesel prices dropped 2.4 cents this week to $2.211 per gallon, according to data issued by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. The average price per gallon is now at its lowest level since the week of May 4, 2009, when it was at $2.185.

The average price per gallon of diesel gasoline dropped 4.1 cents to $2.338 per gallon, according to data issued yesterday by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. This marks the fifth straight weekly decline, with prices falling a cumulative 16.4 cents over that span.

With a 4.5 cent decline, the average price per gallon now stands at $2.379 which is a mere 2.7 cents above the lowest weekly average going back to June 1, 2009, when it was as $2.352 per gallon. Over this four-week stretch of declines, diesel has fallen a cumulative 12.3 cents.

In a research brief issued on Nov. 10, EIA said that at the end of July the HTF was at its lowest level in decades at $6.1 billion. And while a Congressionally approved transfer of more than $8 billion brought the HTF balance to $12 billion at the end of the fiscal year on September 30, it still represented the second-lowest fiscal year-end level since 1984, more than 30 years ago.
