In the freight transportation world, one of the most predictable things over the years is the unpredictable nature of the price per gallon of diesel fuel. That is the case once again now, given the fluctuation in fuel prices in recent months.

The average price per gallon for diesel went up 2.4 cents to $3.923 per gallon, following a 4.9 cent increase last week, which marked the single largest weekly gain since the week of April 4, when prices went up 4.4 cents to $3.976 per gallon.

Following a cumulative 11.3 cent decline over the last two weeks, diesel prices were up this week, rising 1.4 cents to $3.94 per gallon, according to the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).

In what has again become a common occurrence, diesel prices are up once again this week, going up $0.8 cents to $3.438 per gallon, according to the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA). The EIA added that current prices are up 65.7 cents per gallon compared to last year.

Diesel prices were up again, rising 2.3 cents to $3.430 per gallon for the week of January 24, according to data released this week by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA). The EIA added that current prices are up 59.7 cents per gallon compared to last year.
