Bipartisan legislation introduced by a trio of Congressmen—Reps. Richard Hanna (D-NY), Tom Rice (R-SC) and Michael Michaud (D-Maine) aims to halt the 34-hour restart provision on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s motor carrier hours-of-service (HOS) rules that took effect in July.

Trucking stakeholders holding out hope for the recently enacted motor carrier Hours-of-Service (HOS) regulations to be overturned had their hopes dashed—mostly—in a ruling handed down today by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

It has only been barely three weeks since the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) new motor carrier Hours-of-Service (HOS) rules took effect. Before the July 1 effective date, there was (and still remains really) much speculation and conjecture surrounding exactly what the impact of the new rules is or will eventually turn out to be.
