Trucking networks are complicated matrixes of equipment, driver availability and capacity all layered by service requirements and costs. While carriers may pass on some of these costs to customers, the marketplace will simply not allow double digit growth. The key to controlling carrier costs and shippers' trucking rates is increasing the collaboration between the shipper and carrier.

While the national LTL market had been slowly, but surely, pulling itself out of its recession-induced slump, the sector now seems to have hit a bit of a leveling-off period in terms of growth.
While revenue numbers have flattened a bit, the Regional LTL category continues to represent some of the most forward-thinking carriers in trucking.

It’s been awhile since LTL carrier executives were able to see the word “profit” at the bottom of their financial reports. Some are half-jokingly reporting having to go to the dictionary to make sure of the meaning of the word. Sure enough, they found it, right there between “persistence” and “quarterly net gains.”
