Full-year 2015 shipments––at 10,844,363––were up 0.14 percent annually which Panjiva said was much lower than previous years, when U.S. imports showed strong annual growth at a time when the economy was still recovering from a shipment drop that was intact throughout 2008.

The total number of October shipments at 913,543 was flat compared to September, which was consistent with growth patterns in recent years, with 2014 up 2 percent, 2013 up 3 percent, and 2012 down 1 percent.

According to Panjiva data, July shipments-at 952,126-were up 1 percent over June, following sequential gains of 7 percent for May over April and 1 percent for June over May.

March shipments came in at 988,065, which easily eclipsed February by 24 percent, as well as March 2014 by 19 percent. Panjiva said total first quarter shipments at 2,580,899 were 4 percent ahead of the first quarter of 2014.
