As expected, the final rule for truck drivers’ hours-of-service (HOS) was issued by the Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today. Industry experts maintain it will hinder trucking productivity and increase congestion and costs.

Air cargo operators are not required to comply within this rule, as it would be too costly compared to the benefits generated in this portion of the industry, according to the FAA.

In a filing with the United States Court of Appeals, District of Columbia Circuit yesterday, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) stated it will roll out its new proposed truck driver Hours-of-Service (HOS) rules within 30 days.
