Data from ACT Research, a provider of data and analysis for trucks and other commercial vehicles, released this week found that net orders for commercial trailers were up nearly 40 percent in 2011 compared to 2010, while used truck volumes in December were up compared to November but down annually.

The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported that railroad volumes for the week ending December 4 were up on an annual basis. Carload volume at 303,570 was up 6.8 percent compared to the same period in 2009 and were up significantly compared to the 254,121 recorded during Thanksgiving week.

Railroad volumes for the week ending November were up year-over-year, according to data released by the Association of American Railroads (AAR). Carload volume at 288,056 was up 4.9 percent compared to the same week last year but down compared to the three previous weeks at 292,884, 302,855, and 303,664, respectively.
