The case for heavier trucks received good news in Washington, D.C. this week, with Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) stating that the Senate Appropriations Committee, on which she serves as a member, support a one-year extension of a pilot program that exempts Maine’s federal highways from the 80,000 pound federal truck weight limit.Wednesday, October 27, 2010

The battle for increasing truck size and weights received a shot of good news, when the White House last week has agreed to a request from Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, to permanently enact a pilot program allowing trucks weighing up to 100,000 pounds to travel on federal interstate highways in Maine.Posted on 09/22 at 07:56 AM

Truck sizes and weights have largely been frozen at the federal level since 1993.
