Augmented Reality webinar leads series of pre-conference events

Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) announces first in series of free monthly webinars.

Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) will present a new series of free webinars in advance of the WERC 39th Annual Conference for Logistics Professionals.

Each half-hour “Solutions at WERC” webinar will give participants a sampling of the types of educational content they will experience at the Annual Conference, to be held in Providence, R.I., on May 15-18, 2016.

The first webinar, entitled “Augmented Reality,” will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m., Eastern Standard Time. Presenting the session are Exel’s Omer Rashid, senior director of solutions design and Saman Saiy, director of solutions design. According to Rashid, technologies that might sound like science fiction are just now starting to find a place in real-life industry applications.

“Augmented Reality can enhance the actual environment by overlaying context specific, computer-generated information to certain areas of a company’s supply chain - including warehousing, transportation and logistics,” Rashid said. “As an industry, we have only begun to realize the opportunity augmented reality technology can offer. From scheduling of maintenance and repairs to picking by vision in warehouses, we expect to see significant benefits.”

Advance registration for the Augmented Reality webinar is available here. For those who are unable to participate in the session, but wish to view the recording at a later date, all Solutions at WERC webinars will be posted on WERC’s YouTube Channel, as well as available via the WERC website, www.werc.org.

The planned schedule for the rest of the monthly Solutions at WERC half-hour webinars is:
● Thursday, December 10, 2015
● Thursday, January 14, 2016
● Thursday, February 11, 2016
● Thursday, March 17, 2016
● Thursday, April 14, 2016
