Companies register for first Russian materials handling show

The inaugural CeMAT Russia is proving popular as the global materials handling market recovers, with more than 100 exhibitor companies registered so far.

The inaugural CeMAT Russia is proving popular as the global materials handling market recovers, with more than 100 exhibitor companies registered so far.

CeMAT Russia organizer Deutsche Messe spokesman Brock McCormack said that while the show has attracted strong exhibitor participation, there was still some space left for last-minute exhibitors.

“Currently, we have 108 companies registered to exhibit [on about 20,000 square feet of space]. About 85% of them are from outside Russia. Some of the more recognizable names include Jungheinrich, Still, Knapp, Linde, Mitsubishi, Stöcklin and Viastore,” McCormack said.

Wolfgang Lenarz, Deutsche Messe’s senior vice president, says the Russian government’s modernization campaign offers a good opportunity for international companies wanting a presence in the Russian market.

“We expect this region to bounce back in the medium to long term, as already indicated by the positive trends of several key economic indicators,” he adds.

Christoph Hahn-Woernle, managing partner of Viastore and president of the German Engineering Federation’s Intralogistics Forum, says in 2009, exports of German intralogistics products to Russia were down 50% year-on-year but manufacturers are now observing an upswing in demand.

CeMAT Russia will be held with MDA Russia, Industrial Automation Russia and Surface Russia under the Industrial Trade Fair Moscow (ITFM) umbrella from September 28 through October 1 at the All-Russia Exhibition Centre. Collectively, the events will use more than 100,000 square feet of floor space and focus on materials handling and logistics; power transmission and control and fluid power; factory and process automation; and surface treatment.

More than 270 companies will exhibit at the ITFM, with 20% of the total from Germany 16% from Italy. Click here to see the exhibitor list for all four ITFM fairs.
