Murphy Warehouse Company achieves internationally recognized SQF Certification

The second of three levels opens the company to new opportunities in a market where minimum requirements are often non-negotiable.

Murphy Warehouse Company, a leader in warehousing and logistics services throughout the Upper Midwest, has received Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level 2 certification.

The globally recognized certification, known to be one of the most comprehensive in the industry, is achieved through a series of process audits and onsite inspections. According to the Safe Quality Food Institute, “there are three levels of certification for the SQF standard. Level 1 is mainly for low risk products and it incorporates fundamental food safety controls. Level 2 is a certified HACCP food safety plan that is benchmarked by GFSI. Level 3 is a comprehensive implementation of safety and quality management systems that incorporates Level 2. In many cases, a supplier’s customer has already designated a minimum level of certification.”

These processes ensure that food safety requirements, quality guidelines and best practice procedures are followed in the third party logistics providers’ facilities.

“The SQF certification is a great way of showing how serious we are about food safety and quality control during the storage and handling of food products in our warehouses,” says Laurie Murphy, director of quality assurance for Murphy Warehouse Company.
