Applying two-way communications to improve private fleet operations
LIVE - Thursday, March 26, 2009, 2:00 PM, Eastern Daylight Time
A generation or two ago, private fleets were just that—private. But today, America’s best run private fleets are competing with contract carriers for backhauls and other loads in order to help freight balance and improve load optimization.
Today, these so-called “blended” operations are often some of the most efficient and service-oriented fleets on the road. These private fleet operators have grasped this concept of continuous improvement and are constantly striving to add value—not just at the transportation end of the equation but though the entire supply chain all the way to the end customer.
But they’re not immune to the challenges facing even the best run for-hire carriers.
In this special webcast, Brad Wyland, Senior Research Analyst, Supply Chain Execution, for Aberdeen Group, will share the findings of a recent research project designed to paint a picture of how private fleet managers are currently applying two-way communication to improve fleet management operations during this difficult operating environment. He'll also offer some recommendations as to how it can be better applied to gain true operational benefits.
This session will touch on:
-
The current state of two-way radio communication
-
How top private fleet operators are putting two-way communication to work
-
The ultimate benefits fleet managers are realizing from two-way communication
