From what we’re seeing, the warehouse is no longer a four-walled beast intended to store “mistakes” in forecasting—called inventory—but is now an entity morphing into a multi-faceted distribution center designed to better enable product flow, not storage.

And with more value added services (VAS) requirements being dropped into the hands of logistics professionals, small manufacturing cells are naturally making their way into a layout that was once designed for simple storage and distribution.
