CFI, a truckload unit of Montreal-based freight transportation and logistics services provider TFI International, said earlier this week that it has reorganized and expanded its operating groups into what it described as a portfolio of five separate service categories.
The service categories, noted CFI, include: three asset-based services, Truckload, Dedicated and Temp-Control; as well as two non-asset services, Mexico and Logistics.
Company officials explained that to form the dedicated service, CFI said that the former Transport America has been rebranded and integrated into CFI. It added that this dedicated portion will continue to grow in January 2022 when the former UPS Freight Dedicated division, currently branded TForce Freight Dedicated, will also be rebranded to CFI. As for the Temp-Control service, CFI said that earlier this year it expanded into refrigerated transportation through TFI International Inc.’s acquisition of MCT. To digitally support these services, CFI released their new cfidrive.com website.
“We have listened to our customers and reorganized our companies to provide a more complete array of services under a common brand, streamlined lines of communication and more convenient and responsive customer experience,” said Greg Orr, president of CFI, in a statement. “With a strong portfolio of asset-backed, non-asset services as well as superior coverage of North America, we believe that CFI today offers an elite transportation and logistics experience providing significant competitive advantage.”
The main services featured within CFI’s expanded portfolio are comprised of the following groups:
In an interview, CFI’s Orr told LM that there various drivers for these this effort.
“In 25-plus years in transportation, our industry is facing challenges across the board,” he said. “To stay competitive and progressive, we have to adapt. Our people made this opportunity possible. By collaborating and working together to support our customers, professional drivers and associates we formed a dynamic team that lives for the challenge of modern-day transportation.”
From a service perspective, he said that CFI’s service has been trusted by transportation customers for 70 years.
“Expanding our portfolio means increased supply chain solutions, enhanced capacity and more deliveries on-time, safely as promised,” he said. “In a rapidly consolidating industry, CFI remains a leader in trucking and logistics across North America through an established network, cross border experience and ever-evolving additions to our portfolio.”
