DHL rolls out new Argentina-bound flight

Plantation, Fla.-based global express delivery and logistics services provider DHL Express said this week that it has introduced a new dedicated network flight to Argentina.

The company said the new offering will fly six times per week between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Buenos Aires, Argentina (EZE), with a stopover in Santiago, Chile (SCL), prior to returning to Miami (MIA). And it added that the flight is operated by DHL Aero Expreso, with a Boeing B767-300 aircraft providing a gross payload capacity of 52 tons per flight.

The new, dedicated network flight will improve service reliability and increase capacity to support DHL’s international shipping customers and is the first DHL dedicated network flight serving Argentina, according to the company.

“DHL remains steadfast and bullish in its belief in the power of trade, and how it continues to drive local economies, build prosperity and fuel entrepreneurship ” said Mike Parra, CEO of DHL Express Americas, in a statement. “That's why we continually invest in and strengthen our global network. The introduction of this new flight to Argentina reinforces our unwavering commitment to global trade by delivering faster and more efficient shipping and logistics solutions, and addressing the growing demand in the region.”

A DHL spokesman told LM that a major driver for this new flight was because the company wants to ensure that its international customers receive the capacity, service, and support they need along the U.S.-Argentina trade lane, which DHL sees as a continuing growth opportunity for international shippers.

Prior to the introduction of this new flight, the spokesman said that DHL served customers on this route through commercial airlift.

“The greatest benefits of this new, dedicated flight include increased capacity, more consistent service, and earlier deliveries for shipments form the U.S. to Argentina,” he said.

Over the last year, DHL said it has rolled out multiple new global airfreight routes, including:

  • a flight to and from Vietnam and the United States as bilateral trade increased, adding 102 tons of additional capacity per flight; and
  • a new route between Japan and the United States, also in response to the increasing international shipping needs between these two countries, adding 102 tons of additional capacity per flight, six times per week
