One week after rising for the second time in eight weeks, the national average price per gallon of diesel gasoline dropped again, according to data issued this week by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
With a 0.004-cent decline, the national diesel average now stands at $3.051 per gallon. This comes on the heels of a 1.3-cent gain last week and 0.001-cent and 2.7-cent declines, respectively, over the previous two weeks.
This week also marked the 22nd consecutive week that the national diesel average has topped the $3 per gallon mark.
On an annual basis, this week’s average is down 18.8 cents, matching last week’s annual spread.
West Texas Intermediate Crude oil is currently trading at $59.94 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
