American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) estimates that as much as 80% of humanitarian spending is directed towards logistics activities.
Founded in 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, ALAN is a philanthropic, industry-wide organization that provides free logistics assistance to disaster relief organizations before, during and after catastrophic events.
It does this by bringing the expertise and resources of the logistics industry together with “compassionate” organizations so that help can arrive sooner, and each relief dollar can be maximized.
Indeed, over the years it has coordinated supply chain services for numerous natural disasters including hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes and floods.
ALAN Executive Director Kathy Fulton is now asking Logistics Management readers to help them recognize and honor businesses and individuals whose contributions improve humanitarian outcomes through unique or creative supply chain solutions.
The ALAN Humanitarian Logistics Awards were established to recognize those businesses and individuals committed to “Saving Lives Through Logistics.”
Categories:The ALAN Humanitarian Logistics Awards are presented in four categories. Awards may not be presented in every category each year, and the organization reserves the right to award special recognition in categories other than those listed.
Financial or In-Kind Contribution:

Nomination Process and Awards Timing
The ALAN Humanitarian Logistics Awards are presented at the CSCMP EDGE conference, typically held in late September or early October each year.
For 2019, these awards will be presented on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the EDGE morning general session.
The 2019 CSCMP EDGE conference is being held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA.
ALAN will open a call for nominations in advance of this conference, with a nomination submission deadline of four to six weeks prior to the event.
Finally, it should also be noted that ALAN’s chief, Kathy Fulton, will be among the featured speakers at USC’s 7th Annual Global Supply Chain Excellence Summit in August, where she will join colleagues in addressing this most compelling area of today’s Logistics Management concentration
