When the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) convenes for its annual event in Long Beach September 16, one of the highlights will be the presentation of the prestigious 2019 Silver Kingpin Award in recognition to an individual’s long-term contributions to intermodalism.
This year it goes to Mike Wilson, CEO, Consolidated Chassis Management (CCM) along with Steve Branscum, former executive of BNSF Railway.
Named CEO of CCM in April 2019, Wilson is an industry veteran who has made significant contributions throughout his nearly four-decade career in international trade and transportation, including senior leadership roles with Crowley Maritime, United Arab Shipping, United States Lines, Atlantic Container Line, and most recently, Senior Vice President of Hamburg Sud North America.
It is also worth noting that he was the recipient of the 2018 Connie Award, which is presented by the Containerization & Intermodal Institute.
This year that important award goes to Bill Shea who has more than three decades of experience in the transportation leasing industry, starting his career with Itel Rail Corporation. Years later, he co-founded Kelley Transportation Services. As noted in LM earlier year, The Port of Oakland’s executive director, J. Christopher Lytle will also be honored with “The Connie” in Long Beach – where he so masterfully served as that that port’s chief when that gateway was dealing with many significant challenges.
Kudos to all, gentlemen, and we look forward to bringing our readers more news emanating from the IANA conference in the coming days.
