The national average price per gallon of diesel gasoline dropped for the fifth consecutive week, according to data issued today by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
With a 0.021-cent decline, the national diesel average is now at $3.011 per gallon, following declines of 0.002-cents, 1.0-cents, 0.07-cents, and 0.004-cents, respectively, over the previous four weeks. The national diesel average has risen twice in the last 12 weeks.
Even with this recent stretch of declines, the weekly diesel average has remained above the $3 per gallon mark for the last 26 weeks.
On an annual basis, this week’s average is down 20.6 cents, topping last week’s annual spread of 19.1 cents.
West Texas Intermediate Crude oil is currently trading at $57.31 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
