The national average price per gallon of diesel gasoline increased for the third consecutive week, according to data issued this week by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
With a 2.7-cent increase, this week’s average is $3.145 per gallon. This gain was preceded by a 2.5-cent gain last week, to $3.118, ahead of the week of April 8, which came in at $3.093.
This marks the eighth time in the last ten weeks the national average has seen a gain, and it also marked the tenth consecutive week that the national diesel average has topped the $3 per gallon mark.
Prior to that, the average had been below the $3 per gallon mark for five weeks, and before that stretch, the last time that the national average dipped below the $3 per gallon mark was the week of March 19, 2018, when it was at $2.972.
West Texas Intermediate Crude oil is currently trading at $66.51 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
