PITT OHIO heralds West Coast-bound transit time improvements

Late last week, Pittsburgh-based less-than-truckload (LTL), logistics and warehouse services provider PITT OHIO said it has made transit time improvements, to the West Coast, in the form of a partnership with Cypress, Calif.-based LTL and supply chain services provider Daylight Transport.

PITT OHIO said that by working with Daylight Transport, it can now move California-bound freight, from terminals based in its Mid-Atlantic core territory, within three days, coupled with improved service on these lanes as well.

“PITT OHIO is best known for our high-performance regional LTL service offering,” said PITT OHIO Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Geoff Muessig in a statement. “We are pleased to expand and improve our LTL service offering by partnering with Daylight Transport to provide express long-haul service to California. PITT OHIO’s transcontinental LTL service will rely on Daylight’s dedicated driver teams to provide three-day transit service from the PITT OHIO core service area to southern California and four-day transit service to Northern California.”

This service offering will be unique to the marketplace and will bring great value to those shippers who leverage the speed and consistency of these transit times back into California.”

Last month, PITT OHIO said it has made transit time improvements to and from New York State, with 32 next-day lanes.

Company officials said that with the addition of these lanes, the carrier can now move freight within one-day to and from PITT OHIO’s New York State-based terminals in Albany, Buffalo, Utica, and Watertown to terminals in it its Mid-Atlantic core territory. What’s more, the company added that, through this expansion, its shipper customers now have one-day transit times from nine PITT OHIO terminals to and from Albany, Buffalo, and Utica, with five Mid-Atlantic terminals now running next-day service to and from Watertown, in Northern New York.
