Earlier this week, Chicago-based project44, a technology services provider offering standardized, secure Web service API (application programming interfaces) integrations enabling 3PLs and shippers to connect with carriers in real time, announced it has rolled out multiple new offerings to what it calls the industry’s “first and only unified global visibility offering,” which is known as its Advanced Visibility Platform.
The Advanced Visibility Platform focuses on shipment tracking and end-to-end visibility from the start of the shipping process to delivery (and beyond), as well as automation of key transportation processes, and also eliminates gaps in real-time visibility and powers users with high-quality and trustworthy Parcel, Final Mile, Less-Than-Truckload (LTL), Volume LTL, Full Truckload, Refrigerated, Rail and Ocean data.
A company official said the new offerings are comprised of air freight and groupage visibility, and expanded ocean coverage and outlined the benefits each respectively provides:
With a focus on unifying visibility insights into one single platform, project44 said that its multimodal network reaches across more than 48 countries while providing support in more than 16 languages, adding that the platform’s expanded capabilities deliver what it said is the most complete view across all global supply chain activities.
“Businesses need a unified view of their end-to-end visibility data for a flexible and agile global supply chain. We set out to build this solution six years ago because we realized a single mode or regional coverage cannot provide the full picture,” said Jett McCandless, CEO of project44, in a statement. “When global shippers and logistics service providers have the tools and data to analyze their entire transportation journey, visibility will present endless opportunities for their business.”
In project44 blog posting, touting these new offerings, the company explained that even prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a new supply chain evolution under way, and it noted that as COVID-19 has causes unforeseen and new challenges for global shippers and logistics services providers (LSP), existing gaps, friction, and inefficiencies are being uncovered.
“One critical gap businesses are seeing is the need for end-to-end visibility across their global supply chain,” the company said. “A lack of predictive transportation insights is causing wasted costs and efforts as well as issues throughout the supply chain. As shippers and LSPs strive to close these gaps and get ahold of the valuable data and business intelligence that will allow them to increase agility, project44 is expanding capabilities to provide a single, seamless solution across the supply chain.”
