Symbia Logistics opens up new Kansas City-based e-commerce fulfillment center

Edwards, Colo.-based Symbia Logistics, a 3PL focusing on warehousing, logistics, and e-commerce fulfillment, recently announced it opened its newly relocated and expanded Kansas City, Mo.-based e-commerce fulfillment center.

This opening comes on the heels of Symbia’s 2018 acquisition of Kansas City-based Innovative Fulfillment Solutions (IFS).

This new 69,320 square-foot Symbia location was established in 1998 as IFS, which was a forerunner in e-commerce fulfillment at the time, said Symbia, and IFS built a solid reputation as a customer service-centric company that could serve niche sectors, including health and beauty nutraceuticals, and apparel.

Some of the key features of the new Symbia facility in Kansas City include:

●      69,320 square feet of space, nearly double the volume of the previous facility;

●      Clean room for bridesmaid gown fulfillment;

●      Secured and monitored cage for jewelry fulfillment;

●      20,000 square feet of climate controlled space for nutraceutical, cosmeceutical and    food fulfillment;

●      State-of-the-art software; and

●      8 dedicated dock doors

Symbia Fulfillment Services Offered include: Omnichannel logistics; e-commerce fulfillment; subscription box fulfillment; custom kitting and packaging; light assembly; display building; reverse logistics; call center support; and rail, less-than-truckload, truckload and small parcel transportation.

“Companies come to us when they have a specialized warehousing or fulfillment needs,” Symbia CEO Megan Smith said in a statement. “The Kansas City facility is unique with its legacy fulfillment for the health and beauty, and nutraceutical markets, but we are excited to further expand our offerings to include a ‘clean room’ for bridesmaid gowns and a security cage for jewelry. We say we offer white glove service to all our customers, but with these two industries, it is quite literal. “We have a goal to provide quality, high-touch customer service with two-day shipping within the contiguous 48 states. With the expansion of the Kansas City facility and its prime location within the U.S., we are well on our way to meeting that goal.”

In addition to its Kansas City opening, over the last 14 months Symbia said it has also opened a high-tech warehouse and fulfillment center in Denver and made three separate acquisitions, including iD Commerce in Chicago, Mountain State Logistics in Denver, and Nevada Distribution Services in Reno.
