Dallas-based TForce Logistics, a freight transportation and logistics services provider and a subsidiary of TFI International, said this week it is taking steps to further expand its Toronto-based last-mile delivery capacity services, rolling out a new Hamilton distribution center (DC) facility—its fourth—in the greater Toronto metropolitan area.
This new 8,140 square-foot DC, which is located in Stoney Creek, Ontario, provides TForce with the ability to provide next day delivery service down the Highway 401 corridor from Hamilton to Niagara Falls, according to company officials.
The company added that this new DC is able to support e-commerce customers that are served by TForce Logistics in various ways, including order fulfillment, final-mile delivery, and returns management. These customer verticals are comprised of business and manufacturer deliveries. Which include parts, components, and supplies, and ecommerce-generated consumer orders, for which TForce Logistics provides home delivery of goods, including non-perishable foods, furniture, home accessories, appliances, home electronics and other consumer staples.
“Our continued focus to add capability and service coverage in high population markets continues, TForce Logistics VP of Sales, North America, Dean Mills,” told LM. “Hamilton and the Niagara are markets where it just makes sense for expansion. Its and high population—high growth region with solid density. It just makes sense to expand into markets like this…and there are more to come in 2022.”
As for the main benefits of this new DC for TForce Logistics customers, Mills said that consumers in this new region will receive next day service within the entire delivery footprint.
“For our customers (the shippers), the benefit is that they can expand their shipping footprint with TForce Logistics with the same DC pick up, again, expanding the next day delivery area when they ship with TForce Logistics,” he noted.
And, in terms of the competitive advantages that this new DC brings, Mills explained that it is great news for TForce Logistics, as the new market expansion offers more value to its customers.
“By extending our next day service coverage beyond the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) to now include Hamilton and Niagara, it allows our customers to extend their order acceptance windows for their consumers to a greater delivery coverage area,” he said. “Of course, our Hamilton and Niagara expansion includes all aspects of the TForce Logistics delivery experience: highly reliable, highly flexible, highly visible...all at a low cost to serve!”
In addition to this new DC, TForce Logistics’ current footprint in the greater Toronto metropolitan area is also served by a 21,500 square foot distribution and fulfillment center in Brampton, a 21,000 square-foot facility in Toronto (Etobicoke) and a 5,000 square foot facility in Markham.
Collectively, the TForce Logistics final-mile operations comprise nearly 3.5 million deliveries annually in the GTA, “a number that is expected to rise as the Hamilton facility begins to ramp up,” said the company.
