Transflo and Assured Telematics Inc. herald strategic merger

Earlier this week, Tampa, Fla.-based Transflo, a subsidiary of Pegasus TransTech and provider of business process automation services for the North American transportation sector, announced it is merging with Milton, Mass.-based Assured Telematics Inc. (ATI), a provider of top-tier telematics and connected fleet services for the trucking industry, with ATI becoming an integral division of Transflo.

A longtime FreightTech leader, Transflo was founded more than 30 years ago, and its customer-focused mobile and cloud-based technologies manage more than 208 million communications annually, while digitizing more than 800 million shipping documents annually, for roughly $115 billion in freight bills. ATI provides advanced telematics and analytics services, including comprehensive data insight modules for various customer verticals, including large truckload fleets, government fleets, utility, and construction companies.

Terms of the merger were not disclosed. Transflo officials said that the objective of this strategic merger is to deliver a comprehensive suite of solutions, aiming to increase efficiency, improve cash flow, and reduce costs for fleet customers. And the company added that the merger will mesh the companies’ respective strengths to provide what it called an end-to-end solution suite and a densely connected technology ecosystem focused on helping fleet customers increase efficiency, improve cash flow, and reduce costs.

“Transflo and ATI have been in discussions for many months exploring the synergies to maximize benefits to our shared customer bases and the market overall,” said Transflo CEO Renee Krug and President and CRO Bill Vitti, in an interview. “The shared vision to revolutionize the freight and fleet management industry drove our motivation to merge. Transflo and ATI both aim to provide an end-to-end solution suite and a densely connected technology ecosystem to help fleet customers increase efficiency, improve cash flow, and reduce costs. The merger will also help both companies enhance their product offerings and deliver more value to their customers.”

In terms of ways in which this merger will benefit Transflo and ATI customers, Krug and Vitti explained that the merger will benefit customers of both companies by providing them access to an extended range of services and solutions.

“Customers of Transflo will gain access to ATI's comprehensive suite of over 70 unique modules and apps, while ATI's customers will be able to utilize the extensive range of solutions that Transflo offers,” they said. “The combined strengths of the two companies will empower fleet managers to transform their data into actionable insights, effectively overcome daily operational challenges and achieve their business objectives more effectively. This also provides customers with a more robust and integrated set of tools to streamline their operations, reduce risk, and drive cost efficiencies.”

Going forward, Krug and Vitti said that ATI has now become an integral division of Transflo, and will continue under the skilled leadership of Frank Pellitta, whom will also take on the title of Chief Telematics Officer of Transflo.

“The integration of the two companies' products and services is a priority,” they said. “ATI has created a platform for developing data-insight modules and applications, which the combined companies will build upon and offer to Transflo’s dense network of brokers, factors, and carriers. The aim is to create an even more powerful connected ecosystem that drives operational efficiency and reduces friction across these industry constituents.”

When asked what they view as the main competitive advantages of this merger from a Transflo perspective, Krug and Vitti explained that the merger enhances Transflo’s capabilities and product suite, reshaping the future of FreightTech.

“The integration of ATI into Transflo marks a significant milestone in our pursuit to lead the digital transformation of the transportation industry,” they said. “The combined expertise of the teams will enable us to deliver unrivaled solutions and provide unparalleled value to our customers. This partnership also solidifies Transflo's position as the foremost connected ecosystem in the market, setting a new industry standard in the breadth and data density for freight companies.”

ATI’s Pellitta said in a statement that ATI is excited to join forces with Transflo, adding that the synergies created by the companies’ combined strengths will enable them to provide best-in-class solutions that customers expect from them.

“Together, we will be able to offer a comprehensive set of solutions that will help our customers save money, reduce risk, and improve operational efficiency.”
