Uber Freight and MercuryGate team up on a cross-partnership initiative

Earlier today, SaaS-based transportation management system (TMS) provider MercuryGate International Inc. and Uber Freight, a subsidiary of the ubiquitous, ride-sharing service Uber, whose proprietary app matches trucking companies with loads to haul, said they have formed a partnership in which Uber Freight’s extensive carrier network is now available on the MercuryGate platform.

MercuryGate and Uber Freight officials said this integration onto MercuryGate platform provides instant access to Uber Freight’s real-time pricing and guaranteed freight lane capacity.

“Shippers need reliable information to drive speed and efficiency in their 24/7 operations,” said MercuryGate President & CEO Joe Juliano in a statement. “By tapping into Uber Freight’s trusted carrier network, customers of all sizes can realize the benefits of a digital freight marketplace with access to real-time pricing and a vast network of available carriers and guaranteed capacity.”

And Bill Driegert, Uber Freight head of operations, told LM that there were various factors that led to this partnership between these two established industry players.

“In order to future-proof their operations, businesses must invest in their supply chains, and in technology that can connect the disparate parts of their business, deliver on the promise of transparency, and improve the customer experience,” he said. “Uber Freight aims to partner with TMS providers to ensure transparent, reliable, and affordable capacity to shippers of all sizes, all within their existing workflows. By combining MercuryGate’s user base with Uber Freight’s real-time pricing and capacity, it’s a win-win for shippers and carriers alike.”

When asked what the main benefits of this partnership are for shippers, Driegert pointed out that the value-add for shippers is clear and immediate.

“Through this integration, shippers using MercuryGate will now have access to Uber Freight’s real-time pricing and guaranteed capacity,” said Driegert. “Users can price and tender immediately, spending less time on coordination, and opening them up to focus on improving their bottom line. By integrating into the existing workflow of our shippers, we are meeting shippers where they work and making the experience of using Uber Freight even more seamless.”

And from a competitive perspective, Driegert said through this partnership, Uber Freight is able to expand access to its vast carrier network, including real-time pricing and guaranteed capacity, to a new set of shippers who are already familiar with and utilizing MercuryGate’s TMS.
