After falling for the first time in six weeks a week ago, the national average price per gallon of diesel gasoline headed up this week, according to data issued by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) this week.
Rising 0.03 cents, the average price per gallon is now at $3.163, ahead of last week’s $3.160 average. Last week’s decrease was 1.1 cents to $3.160 per gallon, which followed gains of 0.002 cents, 2.2-cents, 2.7-cents, and 2.5-cents, respectively over the previous three weeks.
The national average has seen gains in 11 of the last 14 weeks, and this week also marked the 14th consecutive week that the national diesel average has topped the $3 per gallon mark.
Prior to that, the average had been below the $3 per gallon mark for five weeks, and before that stretch, the last time that the national average dipped below the $3 per gallon mark was the week of March 19, 2018, when it was at $2.972.
West Texas Intermediate Crude oil is currently trading at $63.03 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
