DHL introduces new flights between CVG and Panama hubs

Global logistics and express delivery provider DHL Express recently announced it rolled out new flights between its Cincinnati and Panama hubs effective September 6.

These new direct flights will improve delivery times by one full day from any location in the U.S., Canada, Asia and the Caribbean Islands to Panama and from Panama to all global DHL destinations, according to DHL officials.

“We want to ensure we continue providing world class service for import and export customers along this important trade lane,” said Robert Mintz, Manager of Communications for DHL Express U.S., in an interview.  “Panama is fast becoming an economic powerhouse in Latin America and so connecting our customers along this key trade route with expedited flights give businesses valuable access to and from this growing market and the fastest growing economy in Latin America.”

For these flights DHL will be using a Boeing 757 aircraft with a 30-ton capacity, which connects the DHL CVG (Cincinnati) hub with the Panama City, Panama hub, which the company said will provide the fastest transits with next day U.S. to Panama document delivery and provide the capacity to meet growing trade needs in Panama, whose economy expanded at a rate of 6.2 percent in 2010, according to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.

Mintz said that documents and deminimis dutiable shipments from the U.S. to Panama are now delivered in one day through this flight, which is an industry first in fastest transit.

Prior to this new flight, DHL operated a flight from CVG to Miami to Panama.
“We now have a direct flight to/from Panama,” said Mintz. “We still operate flights between Miami and Central / South America.”
