The Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported this week that the average price per gallon of diesel gasoline dropped 0.2 cents to $2.595 per gallon.
This comes on the heels of last week’s $2.597 per gallon average, which matched the highest average price per gallon for 2017 the week of January 9 and was 1.5 cents above the week of April 10 at $2.582 per gallon.
Going back to the week of April 3, diesel prices have been up three of the last four weeks. And on an annual basis, this week’s average price per gallon is up 39.7 cents compared to the same week a year ago.
The average price per barrel of West Texas Intermediate Crude is currently trading at $49 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
