Diesel prices headed down for the second straight week, according to data issued by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
The average price per gallon saw a 2.5 cent decline to $2.884 per gallon, following a 0.5 cent decrease last week, which followed six straight weeks of falling prices for a cumulative 16-cent drop.
This week’s price snapped a three-week stretch of average weekly diesel prices topping $2.90 per gallon and marked the first time prices had hot that level since hitting $2.917 per gallon the week of March 16.
Compared to the same week a year ago, the average price per diesel is down $1.008.
The average price of a barrel of oil on the New York Mercantile Exchange was trading at $58.14 at press time.
