Earlier this week, FedEx subsidiary FedEx Trade Networks, the company’s global trade arm, announced it ha opened up its first office in Thailand.
FedEx said the new office, which is located in Bangkok, will provide shippers in Thailand and across the Asia Pacific region to leverage FedEx Trade Network’s freight forwarding services. And the company added that the FedEx Trade Networks expansion in Asia Pacific supports its global growth strategy and reinforces its continuous commitment to delivering efficient multi-modal transportation solutions backed by global and local expertise.
“We have opened an office in Bangkok as part of FedEx Trade Networks global expansion strategy to enhance services for our customers,” a company spokesman told LM. “We are also constantly looking at trends and anticipating the needs of our customers. Thailand’s continued growth as the manufacturing base for the automotive industry, as well as the strong electronics industry, provides tremendous opportunities.”
Prior to opening this office, FedEx Trade Networks still had a presence in Thailand, because in regions in which the company does not operate directly, FedEx Trade Networks maintains an extensive global network of strategic alliance service providers with local market leaders.
When asked what the biggest benefits of this expansion into Thailand are for shippers, the spokesman said the new Thailand presence will allow FedEx Trade Networks to continue to offer its customers tailored solutions to help reduce their costs and add value to their businesses.
“With our strong combination of technology, services and reliability, FedEx Trade Networks provides customers in Thailand with in-market expertise for their diverse transportation and distribution needs,” he said. “Whether customers want to increase their speed-to-market or improve inventory control and costs, FedEx Trade Networks can help businesses of all sizes achieve their supply chain goals. We also offer seamless support across other FedEx operating companies and enhanced access to the FedEx global network.”
Along with opening up a new Thailand office, FedEx said FedEx Trade Networks is expanding its FedEx International Direct Priority Ocean service into Thailand. This is a traditional freight forwarding service to and from major worldwide networks for products that have a flexible delivery schedule. It offers a reliable ocean delivery solution to a choice of U.S. destination ports from origins in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Europe and now Thailand, said FedEx. And it is comprised of premier ocean freight forwarding, U.S. customs brokerage, final delivery and online visibility for both less-than-container load (LCL) and full-container load (FCL) cargo.
“The addition of the new Thailand origin extends the reach of the service and offers businesses in Thailand additional ocean freight forwarding choices when exporting to the United States,” the spokesman said. “FedEx International Direct Priority Ocean expansion offers businesses in Thailand a reliable port-to-door or door-to-door delivery solution to a choice of U.S. destinations.”
