HighJump joins committee to determine global supply chain standards

Membership in DEX/Direct Store Delivery committee of GS1 US will support existing and future DSD technologies.

HighJump Software, a global provider of supply chain management software, announced today that it has joined the DEX/Direct Store Delivery committee of GS1 US, an international not-for-profit organization dedicated to the design and implementation of global standards and solutions to improve the efficiency and visibility of the supply chain. The GS1 System of Standards is the most widely used supply chain standards in the world.

HighJump Software will participate in the DEX/Direct Store Delivery (DSD) committee to enhance the GS1 US DEX/UCS standard for the DSD industry. DEX/UCS is the standard used by many food and beverage retailers, such as grocers, when receiving products directly at the retail location: The supplier’s system and retailer’s system exchange information when the product is delivered to ensure that invoice quantities and prices in the two systems reconcile. In addition to data and process improvements, the committee is also pursuing using Bluetooth wireless communications for DEX/UCS. The switch will ultimately be very beneficial for companies because of Bluetooth’s ease of use, ability to communicate more quickly and the fewer accessories needed for operation.

“We are honored to assist in determining global standards for the DSD industry,” said Amy Stelling, senior vice president and general manager of the DSD solutions group, HighJump Software. “Our role on the committee reflects our commitment to the DSD industry and to improving current and next-generation technologies and processes.”

“There have been significant advances in business process and wireless technology in the last several years, and the committee looks forward to enhancing standards for DEX/UCS to help retailers, consumer goods suppliers and solution providers benefit from those advances,” said Steven Rosenberg, global standards director at GS1 US. “We welcome HighJump Software, a recognized leader in the DSD industry, to the committee.”

GS1 US, a member of GS1, is an information standards organization that brings industry communities together to solve supply-chain problems through the adoption and implementation of GS1 Standards. Nearly 300,000 businesses in 25 industries rely on GS1 US for trading-partner collaboration and for maximizing the cost effectiveness, speed, visibility, security and sustainability of their business processes. They achieve these benefits through solutions based on GS1 global unique numbering and identification systems, bar codes, Electronic Product Code-based RFID, data synchronization, and electronic information exchange. GS1 US also manages the United Nations Standard Products and Services Code (UNSPSC).
