Scores of major and minor third party logistics providers (3PLs) have found that offering “controlled-temperature” services can help shippers break into emerging markets and develop new revenue streams.

As we note in this month’s print edition of LM: “3PL Management: Conquering the cold chain, this sector is experiencing “explosive growth.”

Shippers seeking more information on this subject may wish to consider attending an event staged by KCSmartport in a few days.

Here, some of the nation’s biggest names in the industry will speak at “Momentum 2013,” addressing topics on growth trajectory, and the latest technology tools in warehouse management software and analytics.  Panelists represent a cross-section of the industry in niches including e-commerce, automotive, consumer products and pharmaceuticals.

“Third-party logistics providers enable companies to focus on what they do best,” says Chris Gutierrez, president of KC SmartPort.

“It is a thriving industry since outsourcing to a third party provider is generally better for a company’s bottom line, a key concern for a majority of retailers and manufacturers today.”
