Markus Schmidt, senior vice president at Swisslog (Booth 4687) presented the intralogistics specialist’s latest warehouse automation innovations at a press conference on Tuesday. In its booth, company is demonstrating new picking technologies integrated with advanced robotics. The booth features a large, dynamic exhibit that showcases familiar goods-to-person technology, AutoStore, as well as a fully automated picking station and a new high-performance shuttle system.

Swisslog’s Automated Item Pick (AIP) is a fully automated picking station that teams humans with robots, enabling direct cooperation between man and machine, with no safety fence required. Swisslog has also developed a new shuttle technology that offers outstanding performance, flexibility and reliability.

Also this week, Swisslog announced the acquisition of Power Automation Systems (PAS), a California-based maker of pallet shuttle automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS). “Thanks to our various acquisitions, we’ve become a one-stop provider for the supply chain,” Schmidt said. “From the end of the production line, we take the ball and deliver distribution center solutions for our clients.”

Modex 2016 is scheduled to be held April 4-7, 2016 in Atlanta’s Georgia World Conference Center. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry. Modern’s complete Modex coverage.
