The Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported that rail carload and intermodal volumes for the week ending November 22 were mixed.
Carloads were down 0.3 percent annually at 295,812 and were down from the 296,655 recorded the week of November 15 and the 297,694 from the week of November 8.
Intermodal units, at 269,373 containers and trailers saw a 0.7 percent annual gain and was below the 273,695 recorded the week of November 15 and the 271,113 from the week of November 8
Five of the ten carload commodities tracked by the AAR were up annually for the week ending November 22. Petroleum and petroleum products were up 11.5 percent, and farm products, excluding grain and food, were down 6.4 percent.
For the first 47 weeks of 2014, carloads are up 3.4 percent annually at 13,720,901 and intermodal is up 5.2 percent at 12,273,260 trailers and containers.
