The impact of Hurricane Sandy was apparent in freight shipment and expenditure data in the November edition of the Cass Freight Index report released by Cass Information Systems earlier today.
New services in these regions include ocean transport, providing a single contact for full-container-load (FCL) and expedited less-than-container load supply chain services.
In an effort to expand into Canada, non asset-based third-party logistics (3PL) services provider Transplace said this week it has acquired Torus Freight Systems, a Richmond Hill, Ontario-based logistics services provider specializing in Canadian cross-border and intra-Canada freight.

In its monthly Non-Manufacturing Report on Business, the ISM reported that the index it uses to measure non-manufacturing growth—known as the NMI—was 54.7 percent in November, up 0.5 percent from October.

Following an August announcement in which it announced multiple pending changes to its much maligned government-mandated CSA program, which stands for “Compliance, Safety, Accountability,” the Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) said this week that the changes went into effect this week.
