Packaging: Schaefer Systems and Douglas Machines join Reusable Packaging Association

Schaefer Systems is a leading reusable manufacturer for warehousing and distribution, and Douglas Machines offers a full line of automated commercial and industrial washers

Schaefer Systems International and Douglas Machines Corp. have joined the Reusable Packaging Association (RPA). Schaefer Systems is a leading reusable manufacturer for warehousing and distribution, and Douglas Machines Corp. offers a full line of automated commercial and industrial washers. A total of 14 new members have joined the RPA this year.

“We welcome both companies to our growing list of members,” said Jerry Welcome, RPA President. “Each company brings with them new insights and breadth of experiences that benefit all our members. In particular, Schaefer Systems, which is well connected in the warehousing and distribution industry, opens a new avenue for the RPA to this important market segment for the reusable industry.”

Schaefer Systems designs and manufacturers returnable/reusable plastic packaging, custom interior dunnage for part protection & material handling products used for closed-loop distribution systems, warehouse and distribution center material handling & storage systems, and automated storage/retrieval systems & waste management.

Founded in 1979, Douglas Machines Corp. offers a full line of automated washing and sanitizing equipment for all reusable containers commonly used in food processing and distribution industries. Over 80 standard models exist to quickly and efficiently clean plans, trays, moulds, baskets, screens, pallets, lugs, totes, bins, vats, barrels and buckets. Batch and continuous cleaning systems are available to clean several hundred to several thousand containers an hour.

“As a member of the RPA, we hope to provide members with a knowledgeable and competent referral source for their clients who are looking to automate the cleaning process,” said Kevin Lemen, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Douglas Machines Corp. “We are also interested in working with container manufacturers to improve designs to help make them easier to clean. In addition, Douglas Machines hopes to learn more about the unique challenges and opportunities facing the reusable packaging industry and to see how we can work together to resolve them.”
