Wynright extends green commitment with renewable energy certificates

Wynright announced today that it has entered into a contract with Constellation Energy to purchase Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) to match 10 percent of its electricity use at two facilities through March 2015.

Wynright Corporation, a leading, U.S.-based provider of intelligent materials handling systems, announced today that it has entered into a contract with Constellation Energy to purchase Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) to match 10 percent of its electricity use at two facilities through March 2015.

The RECs supplied by Constellation Energy are Green-e Energy Certified and sourced from wind energy facilities located throughout the United States. Throughout the term of the contract, 10 percent of the electricity Wynright uses at its Elk Grove, IL and Arlington, TX facilities will be matched with RECs.

“Building on our substantial investment in green technologies and our development of sustainable systems for our clients, Wynright is proud to continue its support of energy conservation with Constellation Energy,” said Ken Dickerson, COO of Wynright. “Through the purchase of RECs, Wynright and Constellation Energy are teaming together to support the operation and development of facilities that generate clean, renewable energy that replaces emissions otherwise released through fossil fuel generation.”

Wynright has been an innovative leader in designing and developing intelligent material handling systems that reduce sound levels, extend equipment life, lower maintenance requirements and use less energy. It uses energy-efficient welding, computer-optimized layout and laser-cutting technology that reduce waste, and low-temperature paint application processes that do not have any chemical emissions. Wynright also provides its customers with comprehensive energy audits and LED lights in controls.

Under the Constellation Energy program, each REC represents the positive environmental attributes of 1 megawatt hour (MWh) of electricity generated by a renewable power plant, and is retired on behalf of customers wishing to promote their environmental commitment.

“Constellation Energy is pleased to support the sustainability goals of our customers,” said Michael Smith, senior vice president of green initiatives for Constellation Energy. “Their voluntary actions to help reduce pollution and encourage the use of clean renewable fuels demonstrate a sincere commitment to the environment.”
