Global 3PL services provider said this week its more than 20-year relationship with automotive bellwether Ford Motor Company continues to gain speed, with the company announcing today a renewal and expansion of its services for Ford.
These services include container management, deconsolidation, metering, sequencing, transportation, and inventory control at Ford’s Louisville Assembly Plant (LAP) in Louisville, Kentucky, where CEVA has provided service to Ford going back to 2012.
CEVA said that it will renew services to include metering, small lot logistics, return container management and just in time transportation to and from the plant, adding that it will also expand its services to provide sequencing to the line various parts in color/type order for ease of installation. CEVA will be investing in improvements to its current facilities by adding capacity in the form of an additional facility and equipment at the LAP site to better serve Ford.
“It is exciting to renew and expand our manufacturing support services to Ford in Louisville,” said Kerry Zielinski, CEVA’s Vice President of Business Development for Automotive in North America, in a statement. “We appreciate this commitment from one of our largest global customers. The Automotive sector is one of CEVA’s largest and we owe our successes to operational excellence and year-over-year service improvements on Ford’s behalf.”
In July 2015, CEVA invested in new facilities in Kansas City and Louisville in order to support the Ford Kentucky Tuck Plant.
And in June 2014, CEVA said it would provide inbound transportation logistics services for Ford’s Coldwater, Michigan-based Coldwater Origin Distribution Center (ODC), adding that its transportation operations will be based in various Michigan locations and provide pickup and delivery to the Coldwater ODC.
CEVA has also served Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant (KCAP) for more than 13 years, and provides the automotive manufacturer with various logistics-related functions at the Claycomo, Missouri-based KCAP, including sequencing of inbound materials, small lot logistics, return container management and just in time transportation to and from the plant. The KCAP manufactures the F-Series truck and the Kansas City operation is CEVA’s longest running automotive manufacturing support operation for Ford in the Americas.
