Dearborn Mid-West Company launches materials handling systems division

New division to provide turnkey material handling systems for warehousing and distribution, post and parcel, and industrial markets.


With more than 65 years of conveyor systems expertise, Dearborn Mid-West Company (DMW) is expanding operations and capabilities with a new division in central New Jersey.

The Material Handling Systems Division opened in April 2014. The new division is now fully operational, serving clients in a wide range of material handling applications, including the retail industry, where e-commerce and omni-channel distribution are the driving forces.

DMW aims to expand services beyond its conveyor systems manufacturing and integration capabilities in core markets like automotive and bulk handling. With the acquisition of intellectual property—specifically, 24-Volt and GOH (Garment-On-Hanger) conveyor systems—from an established material handling company in November 2013, DMW began to develop what would ultimately become its Material Handling Systems Division.

The company began by testing the waters, surveying and assessing the existing market demands. DMW leadership engaged Joe Colletti as a business consultant, noting his 30 years of experience in the material handling industry. The company conducted extensive research to examine market needs, and then matched those requirements to its core competencies.

This in-depth analysis and evaluation led the company to focus on turnkey material handling system solutions in three areas: warehouses and distribution centers, post and parcel, and industrial. With Colletti’s expertise corresponding to these sectors perfectly, DMW tapped him to be president of the new division.

“I am extremely excited to bring DMW’s material handling expertise and manufacturing capabilities to the mid-level market,” says Colletti. “DMW is set to fill the void between the small-scale system integrators and the self-performing large-scale manufacturers. Our division’s unique ‘think tank’ approach allows us to provide innovative and cost-effective solutions to our customers while maintaining the financial and human resources of a leading systems manufacturer and integrator.”
