United Pallet Services to partner with Virginia Tech for ProMat 2015 pallet education session

Center for Packaging and Unit Load Design (CPULD) at Virginia Tech University to discuss advantages and disadvantages of all types of pallets.

United Pallet Services, makers of the pointGUARD Pallet Protector, is again partnering with the Center for Packaging and Unit Load Design (CPULD) at Virginia Tech University to present another education presentation, this time during ProMat 2015.

With the goal of educating the material handling audience on enhancing the strength of wooden pallets to make them more reusable, the session will be part of the ProMat’s Educational Conference lineup that will offer more than 100 expert-led sessions conveying a broad array of supply chain, material handling and logistics topics. Sessions are offered free to all registered show attendees.

The pallet session, taught by Laszlo Horvath, director at the CPULD and Assistant Professor of Practice at the Department of Sustainable Biomaterials, is set for Tuesday, March 24th at 12 p.m. in ProMat’s Theater A. It will be titled “Best Practices for Getting the Most out of your Wooden Pallets through Smart Pallet Design” and although it will focus on captive or closed-loop wooden pallets, the session will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of all types of pallets.

“Many companies struggle with the durability issue of wood pallets. Our goal of this session is to provide a presentation that will shed light on how to make a wooden pallet the most reusable asset that it can be”, said Callen Cochran, business development manager for the pointGUARD Pallet Protector. “By partnering with the CPULD at Virginia Tech, we know that attendees of this session will be given some useful strategies from an organization that is considered one of the experts in the packaging field.”

ProMat 2015 is scheduled to be held March 23-26, 2014 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry. Modern’s complete ProMat 2015 coverage.
