Third Party Logistics (3PL) Quest for Quality 2019: Challenges mount, service improves

Learn about the 36th Annual Quest for Quality Award winners for Third Party Logistics (3PL) Carriers

As e-commerce continues its rapid growth, so too do the challenges for logistics managers who must now meet heightened customer expectations while navigating today’s ever-changing third-party logistics (3PL) marketplace.

In fact, on both the domestic and global fronts, the consolidation trend in the 3PL industry continues at an equally fast pace, with record merger and acquisition activity being reported across all sectors. “Many of the more notable deals took place late last year as more 3PLs aim to keep up with the continued ‘Amazonization’ of the global market,” says executive editor Patrick Burnson.

Today, there’s little doubt that the intersection of supply chain technology, changing online consumer spending habits, data management, delivery preferences and other factors are all serving as game changers in how 3PLs are continually striving to better serve shippers.

And according to the readers of Logistics Management, the 22 3PLs listed as winners of 2019 Quest for Quality gold have not only been able to keep pace with today’s complex shipper demands, but have also offered world class service along the way.

This year, readers have Ryder Supply Chain solutions with the top weighted score (52.63) in the highly competitive Transportation Management category. Ryder put up top marks in Carrier Selection/Negotiation (11.21) and Logistics Information Systems (11.25). In the Value-added Warehousing and Distribution Solutions category we find Averitt Express Supply Chain Solutions with the top weighted score at 56.58.
